Endless praise and gratitude as numerous as the breaths of His creations be to Allah the Most High, who has sent guiding lights to every society throughout human history, and who empowered His awliya in every generation to carry the torch of guidance and enlightenment after the Last Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
To His beloved messenger, the fountain of divine knowledge and love, the Pride of All Worlds, our Master, salat and salam be upon him as countless as the ailments and cures in this world. And to His blessed family, companions, and followers…
In this age of egoism and self-indulgence, we bid farewell to an exemplary murshid, Gawth-i Thani Shaykh Sayyid Abdülbaki el-Hüseyni (quddisa sirruhu), who has been the beacon of enlightenment for hundreds of thousands and has revived the hearts of millions with his love. The principles he stood by—righteous intention, service, and ikhlas—will forever be cherished, and the legacies he left behind will never be forsaken.
With the hope of this issue serving as a beautiful tribute, we dedicate it to him. We have endeavored to compile his life story, exemplary character, sohbahs, and sayings from reliable sources. Additionally, we have included photographs that depict different eras of both him and the blessed Menzil.
This issue is divided into four main sections:
The first section contains introductory articles on tasawwuf, the concept of the perfect guide, and the guiding style of the Sadat of Menzil al-Sharif. We also provide a brief history and present state of Menzil al-Sharif.
The second section narrates the life story of Gawth-i Thani (quddisa sirruhu) and offers glimpses of his exemplary character.
In the third section, we delve into his written works, and the service institutions he pioneered, essentially presenting his legacy.
The fourth and final section shares some of his sohbahs, and collects memories related to him from various individuals, and throughout the magazine, we’ve sprinkled some of his poignant sayings.
The poet Fuzuli, in the crown verse of his qasida commonly known as "The Water Ode," says:
"Yüm-i na’tünden güher olmış Fuzûlî sözleri/
Ebr-i nîsândan dönen tek lü’lü şeh-vâra su"
In essence: "With the blessings of singing your praises, even Fuzuli’s mundane words transform into pearls, like raindrops from April's clouds."
This month, our magazine has been blessed by the remembrance of a great friend of Allah. May Allah the Almighty elevate his rank and grant us the privilege of coming under his shafa’ah. Amin.
